NUTRITION AT SLEDGE
At Sledge Institute, wellness is more than a buzzword—it’s a commitment. As part of our all-inclusive wellness model, we offer free, catered lunches to all students every day, along with daily snacks for our 6th graders (due to their later lunch).
On this page, you’ll find the latest lunch menus (all grades) and snack info (6th grade) to help keep your student fueled and focused.
Why does it matter? Research shows that students who eat nutritious meals perform better in school, have better focus and memory, and are more likely to develop healthy habits that last a lifetime.
Healthy, free school meals help students thrive:
Higher test scores & focus
-
Schools offering healthier school lunches see end-of-year test scores increase by about 4 percentile points—an even bigger gain for students on free/reduced-price meals.
Improved attendance & behavior
-
Studies link nutritious school meals with better attendance, lower rates of hunger-related absenteeism, and reductions in behavioral issues .
Better health & nutrition
-
Providing free, healthy school meals improves student diet quality, decreases food insecurity, and doesn’t cause weight gain—in fact, it can help maintain healthy weights.
Supports equitable access
-
Universal free meals – like Sledge’s model – reduce stigma, boost participation for all income levels, and are linked to academic gains and healthier outcomes across the board
Healthy students are better learners—and that’s what we’re all about.
Let’s nourish greatness—one meal at a time.
