Postsecondary Readiness
What is Postsecondary Readiness?
Postsecondary readiness at Sledge Institute moves beyond the traditional roles of intense preparation for standardized testing, to a more multi-faceted approach aligned to a future-ready framework composed of research-backed Core Skills that go beyond typical Social-Emotional Learning competencies to incorporate meaning-making and critical thinking, workforce preparation, and leadership development in order to connect classroom learning to the real world, and ensure that learners graduate equipped with the knowledge, skills, and dispositions necessary to pursue the postsecondary pathway of their choice.
Why Postsecondary Readiness?
Traditional measures, like test scores, don’t reflect the full depth of student learning. Instead, student performance should be measured by how well students consistently demonstrate the knowledge and skills they’ll need to succeed in life after high school. It is not enough to simply cross the graduation stage; students need to be prepared to pursue the post-secondary plans of their choice.
